Dyke Nights holds Dykes Unite in Spite: A Community Building Mutual Aid Dance Party
Put your spite to good use in the face of it all at December's Dyke Nights dance party featuring drag and burlesque performances and music by DJ May. Embrace joy and solidarity while uplifting the community. All proceeds going to Cultivate Sav, Snap 4 Freedom, and Migrant Equity Southeast. For more info see their Instagram @dyke.nights. Magic Wheelism Magic School for Grownups Presents Cauldron Castle Kundalini
Magic Wheelism workshops continue through December, hosting local bodywork practitioner Ranch of Cauldron Castle as they lead attendees through a kundalini class. This Wednesday, Emily will host, followed by Ranch on Dec. 18. Free, donations accepted. 7-9 p.m. 1602 Waters Ave.
Free Yoga in the Park
This ain’t your typical lululemon yoga class. Get your stretch on with free yoga in the park this and every Wednesday with instructor Danette “Dani B.” Bauer. Each class is sixty minutes, and open to all skill levels, with breathwork, inclusive language, physical modifications. Bring a mat, water, make a new friend. Class sponsored by The Collins Quarter at Forsyth, behind their building, on the north side, in Forsyth Park. Free. 6 p.m.
Yuletide Tours at Davenport Museum
Through Jan. 4, 2025, See how the Davenport family celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays on their docent-led seasonally themed tours. Yuletide Tours also include access to the Urban Enslaved Exhibit, an immersive experience that sheds light on the lives of the thirteen enslaved individuals who lived and worked at the Davenport House. Guests will gain insight into how these individuals observed and were impacted by the holiday season. Tickets for adults are $15, students $12, and children $10 (kids under 6, free). Savannah Urban Agriculture Festival
The Fruitful Futures Foundation is pleased to host the Savannah Urban Agriculture Festival focusing on food sovereignty in coastal Georgia. Workshops for the day feature topics like composting, beekeeping, gardening 101, permaculture/agroforestry, native plants and more. Fun activities for kids include a kids station with Loop It Up, creating nature treasure boxes, flower crowns, and seed saving. For more info visit fruitfulfuturesfoundation.com. SLAM opens at Location Gallery
Wanna gift cool art this holiday season and devote your funds to a good cause? Check out the Savannah Local Artists Market with 15 local artists who have shown at SLAM over the years with a collection of small to medium works for gift giving to others and yourself. Artists include Stacie Jean Albano, Adrienne Berkland, Jim Cone, Paul Downs, Tate Ellington, Charlie Ellis, Tamara Garvey, Sherah Martin Kemp, Julia Licht, Darcy Melton, Deborah S. Miller, Charissa Murray, Peter E. Roberts, Shelley Smith and Courtney Trowman. Gallery profits from the show are donated to The RADA Foundation whose mission is to foster and advance the arts in Asheville's River Arts District.
