Well folks, we made it through another weird holiday week and Valentine’s Day is safely in the rearview mirror. Where is 2025 going? Jesus take the wheel ‘cause I seem to have fallen asleep. This week’s events are sure to wake me and a few of us up. Take a hike, get out into the community, meet like-minded souls to find joy with.

Help Keep Skidaway Park Clean with the Kids
We need our national and state parks more than ever. Bring the kids for a clean up day at Skidaway with the Kids Care: Cleanup Challenge. Are you ready to give back to your community? Make your world a little brighter by helping tidy up. Stop by the Visitor Center to receive information and materials. Junior Rangers will receive credit towards a Kids Care service patch. There is no age limit and all participants may earn a prize. $5 for parking. Skidaway Island State Park, 52 Diamond Causeway.
Open Mic Night with the Poetry Co-op
Want to try out some poetry and embrace your feelings? Join the poetry open mic night this Monday and every Monday at Water Witch. Reviving Crocheting Traditions with artist Samantha Mack
Discover the timeless art of crochet in the historic setting of the Davenport House Museum. Local fiber artist Samantha Mack will host a beginner’s crochet circle, sharing a brief history of the popular 19th-century craft and demonstrating basic stitches. Participants can try their hand at creating a classic “granny square,” which is a versatile pattern used for blankets, pillows and clothing. Suitable for newcomers as well as experienced crocheters looking for guidance on a current project, this hands-on workshop is a wonderful opportunity to connect, create and learn in an inspiring, supportive environment. The cost of this workshop includes crochet materials.

Free Yoga in the Park
Yoga in the park, due to warmer temperatures. Get your stretch on with free yoga in the park this and every Wednesday with instructor Danette “Dani B.” Bauer. Each class is sixty minutes, and open to all skill levels, with breathwork, inclusive language, physical modifications. Bring a mat, water, make a new friend. 2025 Historic Savannah Foundation Lecture Series: “The People, Places and Stories That Define Savannah”
Guest speaker featured during this lecture is The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation President and CEO Wright Mitchell. He will discuss “The Georgia Trust: Saving Historic Sites.” In honor of Georgia History Month in February, Mitchell will provide an overview of The Georgia Trust’s statewide preservation programs and ongoing legislative advocacy. He will share updates on the status of formerly at-risk coastal Georgia properties that were once included on The Georgia Trust’s Places in Peril List, including the Kiah House, Berrien House and Asbury United Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga. as well as the Adam Strain Building in Darien, Ga. and the Hog Hammock Community on Sapelo Island, Ga. The Georgia Trust’s mission is to work for the preservation and revitalization of Georgia’s diverse historic resources and advocate their appreciation, protection and use. Attendance is free for Historic Savannah Foundation members and $15 for non-members. Georgia Arbor Day Tree Hike at Skidaway Island State Park
Join rangers and the community on this special day for an easy 1-mile hike along the Sandpiper Trail Loop. You will appreciate the variety of local trees and enjoy learning to identify them with a ranger. Meet at the Sandpiper Trailhead. $5 for parking. 52 Diamond Causeway.

Fresh Perspective Series: Shitake Mushroom Cultivation
Swampy Appleseed Mushrooms owner Ancil Jacques, a mushroom farmer based in Reidsville, Ga., will teach attendees how to grow shitake mushrooms on a regenerative sweet gum log. $60. 10-11 a.m. Forsyth Park.
