Somewhere Toward Freedom: Sherman’s March and the Story of America’s Largest Emancipation, A Lecture 

A lecture and book signing by Bennett Parten PhD. featuring a groundbreaking account of Sherman’s March to the Sea—the critical Civil War campaign that destroyed the Confederacy—told for the first time from the perspective of the tens of thousands of enslaved people who fled to the Union lines and transformed Sherman’s march into the biggest liberation event in American history. Soup it Up for Loop it Up Savannah 

Join Savannah nonprofit Loop it Up Savannah for their culminating fundraiser event for the nonprofit’s Annual Campaign, which runs from late November to March. The event gives Loop It Up the opportunity to showcase its core programs in literacy, mindfulness and STEAM/school gardens while also highlighting its achievements over the years. This year’s Soup It Up will feature a number of local restaurants, including Fleeting, Collins Quarter, Heavy on the Hors D’Oeuvres, Common and Lulu’s Chocolate Bar Whitmarsh, which will all be filling bowls with delicious soups. Lulu’s Chocolate Bar will also have offerings of their amazing sweet treats. And this year, guests will get to cast votes for their favorite soup to choose which restaurant will go home with the Souper Star Soup Bowl trophy. Fresh Perspectives Series: Uncommon Crops that Thrive Workshop

Jewish Jazz at the JEA

AmiciMusic presents "JEWISH JAZZ" at 1 p.m. at the Jewish Educational Alliance at 5111 Abercorn St. as part of the Savannah Jewish Cultural Arts Festival.  Clarinetist Seth Kibel from Baltimore joins new Savannah resident Daniel Weiser, pianist and founder of AmiciMusic in a program that highlights the intriguing connections between Klezmer music and early American Jazz, especially through the music of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, who both learned to play in their Synagogues.  This program will also include an exhibition of paintings made by Dr. Weiser's father, Milton and his daughter Rose.  For more info, visit:  https://www.savj.org/community-calendar/jewish-jazz
