Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center Blue Ribbon Event Raising Awareness of Child Abuse
Join the Coastal Children’s Advocacy Center (CCAC) for their first event for April’s Child Abuse Awareness Month. The monthlong Child Abuse Prevention Month observance in the United States is dedicated to raising awareness and highlighting the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Members of the Savannah community are invited to help CCAC tie blue ribbons, a symbol of child abuse prevention, around Forsyth Park's historic oak trees to bring public awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Month. For more information about this annual campaign and how you can participate, please visit ccac-savannah.org/support-ccac. CCAC kindly asks participants to meet by the tennis courts at the southeast corner of the park, near the intersection of Drayton Street and Park Avenue, to join the event. Free. 9 a.m. Forsyth Park.
Wild Georgia Spring Break Sprint Skidaway Island Programming Begins
Got some unruly kids on spring break? Take them to the park (while it’s still there). Tuesday starts off their Spring Break programming through Friday. It’s spring break and you’re invited to a series of programs designed to help you sprint to the finish! Earn a “Wild Georgia” prize when you attend multiple Wild Georgia programs. Tuesday’s programming begins with learning about the turtles that live on Skidaway Island and the important roles they play in the ecosystem. Join local Savannah photographer Parker Stewart for his latest exhibition “Tideland” exploring the landscapes of the low country and Georgia coast as part of the #art912 initiative to give local artists a greater platform, curated by Erin Dunn, curator of modern and contemporary art at the Jepson Center.
